三位一体はキリスト教福音の核心です。しかしながら、御父、御子、御霊を中心にしてキリスト教世界観が論じられることは現在ほとんど皆無です。本書は、三位一体が現実の中心にあることを解き明かすことにより、キリスト教世界観の欠陥を補完します。

訳者の松田一男師は、故ジョン・マーレイ教授を以下の様に紹介している。

著者は契約神学の伝統を受け継いでいる現代の契約神学者のひとりとして著名な組織神学者であったが、古典的契約神学の単なる継承者ではなく、「恵みの契約」の緒論の中で次のように書いている。「一つの世代あるいは数世代にわたって建てられた整然とした建造物が、たといどんなに建築術にかなったものであっても、その構造がさらに聖書に近似したものになるためには、またその再現が天にある原型の最も忠実な写しあるいは反映となるためには、つねに訂正と再建が必要である。契約神学は、巧妙な分析によって作り上げられたにもかかわらず、また華麗な整然とした体系であるにもかかわらず、私にはやり直しを必要としていると思える」と。この三つの論文は、契約神学の聖書的再建論者としての彼の見解とその再建の努力がうかがえるという意味で非常に興味深くまた教えられるところの多い論文であると思う。再建論は、保守的立場からは批判されやすく、急進的立場からは悪用されやすい傾向があるので、注意深い評価がなされる必要がある。

ジョン・マーレイは、1937年から1966年に引退するまでウェストミンスター神学校の組織神学の教授であった。

In what shape do we find the doctrine of sola Scriptura today?
